The old monastery

A bit of a "not so lost Lost Place" today, as these ruins of an old monastery are a popular place with a museum attached to it 🙂

Still, a very cool place and we were there early enough to be the only ones walking around and exploring, before all the easter bunnies were awake 🤪

This shot was taken from the outside, wenn I was still pondering if a single wall that I could already see was worth spending 3 bucks for the entry fee. Also, I was considering if I could climb over quickly enough to where the man at the entrance wouldn't see me - yes, I am cheap enough, I mean adventurours enough to consider that 🤪 I think the metal fence gate adds a lot to the picture, it might be my favorite shot of the day.

This old wall was pretty cool, with the visible bricks and mortar. The museum inside had a sign saying that because this part of Germany has no natural limestone, they had to make lime from seashells found by the seashore (thank me later for triggering that ryme in your head) which I found pretty cool. Imagine how many seashells they had to collect to make enough for this one monastery alone, let alone all the other buildings around the area.

This old pillar was great to take snapshots of, so many weird lines that the eye doesn't know what to focus on.

Only this one wall and the gate are still around, all the other buildings and walls were torn down to collect bricks for regular houses after the monastery was conquered (or the area around it for that matter) like three hundred years ago.

I should have taken more pictures of this old mill on the way to the ruins, but there wasn't really a great angle to get. So instead, here's a cute cherry tree blooming for y'all:
