The old bunker
This old bunker is hidden away in a tiny little forest very close to a busy road, but you would never know it existed unless someone told you about it. There is literally no way of seeing it until you stand right next to it - it is so well hidden that I stood five meters away and still couldn't see it, because we came in from the direction where it is nestled into a little hill, standing right on its roof without knowing it was there.
From what I could find out about it, this was used to store ammunition for WW2 cannons. but I wouldn't bet money on that being true 😅 It was very hard to find any sort of information at all about it.
What I do know is that it was a fascinating little place, even though there wasn't much to see now that I go through my pictures from my camera. But we still stayed there for three hours, just exploring, taking pictures, having some fun and standing at the large "window" to look out and wonder what it must have felt like to be stationed there, having to stand guard in the middle of nowhere.
I wonder that a lot, how many soldiers must have spent months of their lives just guarding a place that would never in a million years be attacked, not until the war was already lost. This bunker is so deep in German lands that I doubt there was ever any fighting here - by the time any foreign troops arrived, I'm sure the guards would have long fled because the war was clearly over.

We spent a good bit of time trying to find a geocache that was supposedly hidden here somewhere, but could not find it even with the supplied hints. Maybe someone has taken it away 😕
We ended up coming back here in the evening with some snacks and some drinks, just sitting down on the roof and watching the sun go down through the trees. It was very calm and relaxing, and I had a good time just existing for a while, until we had to head back home.
